My specialist subject…the travelogues of Michael Palin

This second blog comes quickly after the first, mainly to mention all the things I forgot the first time…

I spent the weekend at the Royal Geographical Society in London at their Explore fieldwork planning weekend. I made masses of contacts and gained a book-full of useful notes for Encircle Africa. I also “bumped” into my hero Michael Palin, thanking him for his letter of congratulations for my appearance on BBC Mastermind, my specialist subject being him (well, his travelogues anyway). Sadly I didn’t win, but did manage to look suitably terrified.

I must also say a big BIG thank you to my website builder (and housemate) Pete Rae. He has created a brilliant website which has already brought in a bundle of compliments. The site wouldn’t have got anywhere without him.
