Photographs from the Mediterranean Theatre.
A then-and-now photographic odyssey to recapture images born of the Second World War.
Signed by the author and limited to just 50 copies worldwide, this special edition 30 x 30 cm hardback photobook stems from a one thousand mile journey across North Africa and Italy to recapture images first collected by the great uncle of travel writer Ian M Packham as a result of his conscription into the Corps of Royal Engineers at the onset of the Second World War.
Like many of his generation, he didn’t speak of his three and a half years away from home. However, the album of postcards and photographs he left of the people, places and railways he helped reconstruct became the starting point to rediscovering his story, and the story of the thousands of men like him who are no longer here to tell their own astonishing tales.
